A daily news report is an article that gives information on events that happen in a day. It covers a variety of topics like politics, celebrity gossip and crime. It also includes popular and expert opinions. News reports are usually found in newspapers and magazines.
Most of the time these articles are written by journalists. The reporters are responsible for gathering facts about an event and writing the story. They must make sure that the article is accurate and contains all the important details such as who, what, when, where and why.
Some reporters specialize in a certain topic area and may be called feature writers or columnists. They often have a personal style that they develop through vocabulary choices and rhetorical devices. They may even develop a personality that is evident in their articles.
After a reporter has completed a news report it is sent to the editor who checks it for accuracy. He will also look for any errors in the wording or any subjective language that could be misleading to readers. The report is then passed to a proofreader who will check for spelling and grammatical errors.
The New York Daily News was founded in 1919 as the first tabloid newspaper in America. It reaches over two million people on a daily basis and is the eleventh highest circulation newspaper in the country. Until 1995 it was located in the historic art deco Daily News Building designed by John Mead Howells and Raymond Hood that featured a giant globe and weather instruments in its lobby. The building was used as the model for the Daily Planet in the first two Superman films. Today the News is based in a modern office complex at 450 West 33rd Street called Manhattan West.
